The Metakit software is trademarked and copyrighted:

  • The trademark is asserted at the bottom of this and other pages, and means that if others were to call their software "Metakit", they would violate the trademark rights of Equi4 Software. Don't do it, the name is claimed, and has been in active use for several years.
  • Copyrights automatically apply to everything written, including the source code of Metakit, its documentation, and the pages on this website. As a reminder, the copyright attribution of all source code written by me contains a notice to that effect. Copyrights apply worldwide, establishing me as the author of the Metakit software. Don't remove copyright notices, ever.

LAPACK is a freely-available software package. It is available from netlib via anonymous ftp and the World Wide Web. Thus, it can be included in commercial software packages (and has been). We only ask that proper credit be given to the authors. Like all software, it is copyrighted. It is not trademarked, but we do ask the following:

If you modify the source for these routines we ask that you change the name of the routine and comment the changes made to the original.

We will gladly answer any questions regarding the software. If a modification is done, however, it is the responsibility of the person who modified the routine to provide support.

Two versions of BioImage Suite (FreeBSD and Solaris x86) include the Mesa 3D Library. The license for this is given below.

The Mesa distribution consists of several components. Different copyrights and licenses apply to different components. For example, GLUT is copyrighted by Mark Kilgard, some demo programs are copyrighted by SGI, some of the Mesa device drivers are copyrighted by their authors. See below for a list of Mesa's main components and the license for each.

The core Mesa library is licensed according to the terms of the MIT license. This allows integration with the XFree86, Xorg and DRI projects.

The default Mesa license is as follows:
